Music for Local Events
Let the LFCO Provide Music for Your Next Event
The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra is committed to filling Lake Forest and our surrounding communities with music.
As part of the orchestra’s community outreach program the orchestra is able to provide small chamber groups such as string quartets, woodwind quintets and brass choirs to local not-for-profits for their own fundraising efforts. Our string quartet has played at the Spirit of 67 Home Tour, our woodwind quintet at the Lake Forest Library and our brass choir performs at the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff holiday lighting festivals. Our musicians donate their time and talent to these groups to help the orchestra reach our community.
Public community government funded institutions
Public institutions and groups that are funded by local Lake Forest taxes such as public schools and libraries can apply for our groups to play as an in-kind donation from the orchestra. In exchange for an in-kind donation the orchestra would need logo placement and recognition on event material and day of material as well as communication to the organization’s donor base of the orchestra’s donation.
Local not-for-profits institutions or organizations
Local not-for-profit organizations can apply for a chamber group to attend their own fundraiser for a suggested donation of $300 to the orchestra in addition to logo placement and recognition on event materials. For reference, the non-union scale for 90 min of playing is $150 per musician and each in-kind donation from our orchestra musicians is worth $600-$1600 depending on length of performance and number of musicians performing. If an organization is unable to donate to the orchestra it can apply for a pro bono performance.
Private institutions or organizations
Lake Forest Civic Orchestra’s chamber groups are available for hire for private events. A fee for service will be calculated based on the number of musicians and length of play.
String quartets and woodwind quintets can play outside in temperate weather but must be protected from rain, mist and bright direct sunlight. The orchestra has a pop-up tent that it can use for sun shielding outside but is not adequate for rain. String quartets can play up to 3 hours with breaks. Woodwind quintets can play up to 1.5 hours with a break. Brass choirs can play outside with the exception of extreme cold weather and can play up to an 1.5 hours with breaks but may be limited to an hour if winter weather conditions are cold enough to affect the instruments.
The orchestra is only able to donate a limited number of performances per year and every consideration will be given to accommodate all requests. If you have a request for a chamber group for your event contact: info@lakeforestcivicorchestra.org
