Lake Forest Civic Orchestra Named Community Orchestra of the Year by Illinois Council of Orchestras
The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra is proud to announce its selection by the Illinois Council of Orchestras as Community Orchestra of the Year for 2026.
The LFCO received this high honor “in recognition of their exemplary service and achievements,” according to the council’s judging panel.
The orchestra’s award season accomplishments include a January 2025 performance of Beethoven’s masterful Symphony No. 9 under the baton of Maestro Chris Ramaekers and in collaboration with the Chicago Master Singers and Lux Cantorum Chicago, the featuring of 2 winners of the O’Malley National Concerto Competition (formerly Walgreens competition) of the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, and the continued support of varied community events.
Amid a challenging environment for many classical organizations, the LFCO is proud to provide opportunities to its community to enjoy the enrichment that symphony concerts bring to all ages. The LFCO’s application also focused on “our strategic goal setting that has led to successful fundraising and sustainable operations,” said LoriLee Bielski, LFCO board member. The LFCO is “grateful to its patrons and supporters for helping the orchestra continue to flourish,” said Howard Martino, LFCO board president.
The orchestra also sends chamber groups into the community, performing for a wide array of local events including the Lake Forest School District 67’s Home Tour and Lake Bluff Open Lands events.
